単語が定着するしくみ
単語リストを丸暗記する問題点は、単語を見て分かるようになっても、実際に使えるようにはならないことです。読んだとき「知っている」と感じても、いざ話すときには出てこない。これは異なる二つの記憶なのです。
- 単語は文章の中で覚える。単語だけを覚えても、文脈のないラベルにすぎません。
- 間隔反復は欠かせない。一度会っただけでは単語は身につきません。1日後、1週間後、1か月後と繰り返し出会うことが必要です。
- 使うことは、見て分かることに勝る。新しい単語に出会ったその日のうちに、その単語を使って文を作りましょう。

この語彙テストはどのレベルをカバーしていますか？
A1からC2まで、CEFR の全6レベルに対応しています。各レベルに固有の単語があり、英語の定義が付いています。
なぜヒントは英語なのですか？
翻訳で単語を覚えても、実際に使えるようにはならないからです。英語の定義から意味を考えるのは難しいですが、それこそが話すときに単語をすぐ引き出せるようにする訓練になります。
何語の単語を知っている必要がありますか？
日常会話には約2,000語、新聞を読むには5,000語、学術的なテキストには約8,000語が必要です。ただし、語彙数よりも大切なのは、知っている単語を実際に使いこなせるかどうかです。
