Cara agar kosakata benar-benar menempel
Masalah dengan menghafal daftar kata adalah kamu akhirnya hanya mengenali kata-kata tanpa bisa menggunakannya. Kamu membaca sebuah kata dan berpikir "aku tahu ini", tapi kata itu tidak pernah muncul saat kamu berbicara. Keduanya adalah dua jenis memori yang berbeda.
- Pelajari kata dalam sebuah kalimat, bukan sendirian. Sebuah kata yang berdiri sendiri hanyalah label tanpa konteks.
- Pengulangan berjarak bukan pilihan. Kamu tidak bisa mempelajari sebuah kata hanya dengan menemuinya sekali; kamu perlu menemuinya lagi setelah satu hari, satu minggu, satu bulan.
- Penggunaan aktif mengalahkan pengenalan pasif. Buatlah kalimat dengan kata baru di hari yang sama saat kamu menemuinya.

Semua enam level CEFR dari A1 hingga C2. Setiap level memiliki kata-katanya sendiri dengan definisi dalam bahasa Inggris.

Karena mempelajari sebuah kata melalui terjemahan tidak mengajarimu cara menggunakannya. Memahami makna dari definisi berbahasa Inggris memang lebih sulit, tetapi itulah yang membuat kata tersebut tersedia bagimu saat berbicara.
Berapa banyak kata yang perlu saya ketahui?
Sekitar 2.000 kata sudah cukup untuk percakapan sehari-hari, 5.000 kata memungkinkan kamu membaca koran, dan sekitar 8.000 kata diperlukan untuk teks akademis. Yang lebih penting dari jumlahnya adalah kemampuan menggunakan kata-kata yang sudah kamu kuasai.
