Why do you think that is? ya da Is that always true? gibi sorular cevabının yanlış olduğunu göstermez — bir fikri geliştirip savunabildiğini ölçer.

  4. Denge ya da sonuç: öbür tarafı, bir koşulu (it depends on…) ya da bir sonucu ekle.

Do you think people read less than they used to? sorusunda bu şöyle duyulur:

(Answer) I'd say people read just as much, but they read differently. (Reason) Most of what we read now is short — messages, posts, headlines — so the habit of concentrating on one long text is what's really declining. (Example) In my country you see people reading on their phones on every bus, but very few with an actual book. (Balance) That said, audiobooks have brought a lot of people back to longer stories, so it's not all bad news.

Yaklaşık 75 kelime, konuşunca 30 saniye kadar: çeşitliliği gösterecek kadar uzun, sohbeti akışta tutacak kadar kısa.

Altı soru tipi ve nasıl ele alınır

Soru tipiÖrnekNasıl ele alınır
GörüşShould governments fund the arts?Net bir taraf seç, sonra öbür tarafı da gördüğünü göster: I think so, although…
Geçmiş ve bugünHow has tourism changed your country?Zamanları karşılaştır: used to / now, has become. Somut bir değişiklik ver.
GelecekHow will cities change in the next fifty years?will probably, might, I imagine ile tahmin yürüt — kesinlik gerekmez.
Neden-sonuçWhy do people find change difficult?Bir değil iki neden ver ve bağla: partly because… and partly because…
Avantaj-dezavantajIs it better to rent or to own things?

  • Görüş bildirmek: I'd say…, As far as I can tell…, I'm fairly convinced that…
  • Yumuşatmak: To some extent…, It depends on…, That's not always the case.
  • Genellemek: On the whole…, Generally speaking…, In most cases…
  • Örnek vermek: Take… for instance., A good example is…
  • Geçmişle bugünü karşılaştırmak: Compared with my parents' generation…, These days, whereas in the past…
  • Tahmin yürütmek: I imagine…, It's likely that…, I wouldn't be surprised if…
  • Doğal biçimde zaman kazanmak: That's an interesting question — I haven't thought about it much, but…

Puan kaybettiren hatalar

  • Kendini anlatmak. Why do people enjoy travelling? genel olarak insanlar hakkında; kişisel bir hikâye örnek olabilir, cevabın tamamı değil.
  • Tek cümlede durmak. Görevli her seferinde Why? diye sormak zorunda kalır ve akıcılık puanın düşer.
  • Taraf tutmamak. Tek başına Both have advantages bir kaçıştır. Tart ve bir sonuca var.
  • Ezber bloklar. Hazır paragraflar soruya nadiren tam oturur, ritimdeki değişiklik de kolayca duyulur.
  • Zor soruda susmak. I've never really thought about that, but… deyip sesli düşünmek uzun bir sessizlikten çok daha iyidir.

Part 3'ü sesli çalışmak

Part 3 becerisi ancak süre baskısı altında konuşarak gelişir: model cevap okumak yapıyı görmeni sağlar, ama argümanı yine canlı kurman gerekir. İşe yarayan bir rutin:

  1. Yukarıdan bir cue card grubu seç ve dört sorusunu dört adımlı yapıyla sesli cevapla.

Part 3'te "I don't know" diyebilir miyim?

Diyebilirsin, ama arkasından düşünmeye devam et: "I've never really thought about it, but I suppose…" bir boşluğu akıcı bir cevaba çevirir. Tek başına "I don't know" görevliye değerlendirecek bir şey bırakmaz.

Bunu sesli pratik yapmak ister misin?

TalkSmart yapay zekâ sınav görevlisiyle gerçek zamanlı konuşma pratiği sunar — cue card, süre ve band puanı dahil.
