- 단어는 문장 속에서 익히세요, 단독으로 외우지 마세요. 문맥 없이 홀로 쓰인 단어는 그냥 이름표에 불과합니다.
- 간격 반복은 선택이 아닙니다. 한 번 봤다고 단어를 익힌 게 아닙니다. 하루 뒤, 일주일 뒤, 한 달 뒤에 다시 만나야 합니다.

힌트가 왜 영어로 제공되나요?
번역을 통해 단어를 익히면 실제로 사용하는 법을 배우기 어렵기 때문입니다. 영어 정의를 보고 뜻을 유추하는 과정이 더 힘들게 느껴질 수 있지만, 바로 그 과정이 말할 때 단어를 자연스럽게 떠올릴 수 있게 만들어 줍니다.
단어를 몇 개나 알아야 할까요?
대략 2,000개의 단어면 일상 대화가 가능하고, 5,000개면 신문을 읽을 수 있으며, 8,000개 정도면 학술 텍스트를 다룰 수 있습니다. 하지만 단어 수보다 더 중요한 것은 알고 있는 단어를 실제로 활용할 수 있는 능력입니다.
